Special Session on IPTV and Multimedia CDN

Multimedia content delivery networks (CDN) are essential for the unprecedented growth of the Internet video and entertainment popularity in recent years. Intelligent multimedia content delivery technologies have enabled a wide range of innovative services and applications, including Peer-to-peer (P2P) video streaming, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), interactive online games, cloud computing and resource sharing, over the top videos, live video consuming on mobile devices, etc. While CDN undertakes an important role in the current digital revolution, many challenges arise at the same time. For example, the quality of experience, security, bandwidth efficiency, balance of network traffic, scalability, seamless integration with heterogeneous devices and applications, and content personalization and adaptation, just to name a few. It is a great opportunity for our technical community to provide the right solutions and further enhance the existing multimedia CDN services.

A significant amount of research and development effort has been devoted to related areas of multimedia content delivery networks in the last decade.

The goal of this special session is to provide a forum for engineers, architects, and researchers to share knowledge and innovation in multimedia CDN related services and technologies. We solicit papers covering various topics of interest that include (but are not limited to) the following:

* Network support for multimedia data
* Video content delivery accelerations
* Caching for multimedia content delivery
* Congestion control and traffic engineering for video content delivery
* HTTP based streaming and new streaming protocols
* Multimedia content adaptation for three screen delivery
* Personalized multimedia content delivery and services
* Interactive multimedia services in CDN
* Target advertisement in CDN
* Multimedia content discovery
* Multimedia content management
* QoE measurement and metrics for CDN
* Privacy, security issues in multimedia CDN
* Over the top video services and delivery
* Innovative IPTV services
* Service platforms for multimedia content delivery
* Mobile multimedia content delivery
* Multimedia content mushups
* Interactive online games for multi-players
* Cloud/Grid-based content management and delivery
